$12,346,721.22 – Premises Liability Verdict

Larry and Howard Knapp obtained a $12,346,721.22 verdict from a Stanislaus County jury for their client, Mr. John Painter. Mr. Painter was seriously injured in Modesto, California, when a defectively installed fixed access ladder fell off a building while he was on it. The Defendant, Sean Amin, who built the building, denied liability. After more than five years of litigation, a jury returned a record-setting verdict for our client.

A big rig truck driver while driving with her pet dog and pet parakeet on Interstate 5 in Stockton, California, fell asleep at the wheel.  Tragically, she drove her Forward Air vehicle into stopped traffic at 60 mph killing a married father of two little girls.

$6,500,000 – Auto Accident Settlement

A man, driving under the influence, drove into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle after working on his property in Groveland, California. The accident seriously injured a mother and three children and killed her five-month-old baby. After providing extensive evidence of wrongful death and personal injury, Knapp Moss obtained a settlement of $6.5 million subsequent to a court trial.

A metal fabricator defectively designed and manufactured a large industrial delivery system of product. The system broke causing a man to fall into a boiling hot tank of the product and as a result, he died. We represented the family of the deceased man and worked to make sure that they recovered the future lost income he would have provided had he not lost his life due to the negligence of the metal fabricator.

$1,000,000 – Traumatic Brain Injury Settlement

A City failed to water, prune, or inspect a city-owned tree allowing it to become overgrown and dangerous. Our client parked their vehicle underneath the tree. While sitting in the vehicle, the tree split in half falling onto the roof of the car. Consequently, our client sustained a traumatic brain injury that caused her to experience migraines and a personality change. Our client was only 16-years old on the date of the incident and feared for the outlook on her future. We fought a long battle to prove the City knew about the dangerous condition of the tree and ultimately received a million-dollar settlement to ensure just compensation for our client.

An Installation and Service Technologies worker left a trap door open in the floor of Hollywood Cafe in Lodi, California.  Our client fell into the hole severely injuring her back causing lifelong pain and suffering.  Her husband made a claim for loss of consortium (loss of love, companionship, comfort, care, assistance, protection, affection, society, and moral support; and the loss of the enjoyment of sexual relations).  The case was tried to verdict in front of a San Joaquin County jury.

A property owner of a truck loading dock knew that a rubber bumper had fallen from the dock. Whenever a truck would back up to the dock the missing bumper created a hole between the dock and the truck bed. Despite this knowledge the property owner left the dangerous condition unrepaired for months until a man unloading his truck stepped through the hole and broke his back. We represented the injured man and his family to make sure that the property owner paid for the past and future lost wages, the medical bills and the effect his broken back would have on his life.

$500,000 – Slip & Fall Settlement Against Major Retailer

A major retail department store allowed a bottle of broken cosmetic product to leak a translucent, oily substance into the middle of a beauty department aisle. As a result of the dangerous condition on the property, our client slipped and violently fell to the ground, suffering significant injuries.
